Having been a councilmember in Garden Grove, she is well aware of the issues and well equipped to provide sensible solutions. She is focused on our same issues and supports our mission of implementing strategic resolutions to issues critical to the Hispanic community. She has proven herself to be a logical and realistic public official. The county will benefit with Supervisor Nguyen on the Board for another term.” The Hispanic 100 consists of business, non-profit and political leaders in Southern California. Based out of Irvine, their mission is to further the development of local, national and international Hispanic business and political leaders and to be a conduit to facilitate and implement the strategic resolutions of issues critical to the Hispanic community. |
| January 2, 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger appoints Hispanic 100 member Carlos Bustamante Carlos Bustamante, 42, of Santa Ana, has been appointed to the Fair Employment and Housing Commission. He has worked for the county of Orange since 2000 and currently holds the position of assistant director of planning and development services. Bustamante previously served as senior project manager for the county executive office from 2003 to 2005 and a human resources manager from 2000 to 2003. Additionally, he has served on the Santa Ana City Council since 2004. In this position, Bustamante previously served on the Redevelopment and Housing Commission for Santa Ana. He was a territory marketing sales manager for Forest Pharmaceuticals Incorporated in 2000 and a Southern California marketing manager for National Starch and Chemical from 1998 to 2000. Prior to that, Bustamante worked in California State government from 1993 to 1998 and held the positions of investigator II in the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control; deputy registrar of contractors for the Contractors State Licensing Board; and business taxes representative for the Board of Equalization. Bustamante is a founder of the Santa Ana Business Bank and also serves as director. He is a member of the Board for the Santa Ana Western Medical Center. |
| September 1, 2007 Governor Schwarzenegger appoints Hispanic 100 founding member John Cruz, Esq. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of John G. Cruz as appointments secretary. John is one of our founding members of the Hispanic 100 and we are very proud to have such a good friend to represent us in the Administration. The appointments secretary oversees the appointment making process to positions for which the Governor is responsible. Among other things, the appointments secretary sets guidelines for evaluating resumes, interviews and background checks as well as represents the Governor at public forums which provide opportunities to recruit candidates for appointment. |
